The 2010 Constitution gives every Kenyan powerful tools to hold public institutions to account. Our constitutional practice uses those tools carefully: we bring cases that are well founded, well pleaded and backed by evidence, and we defend public bodies and officers who are entitled to a fair process.

Much of our work centres on devolution — disputes between county assemblies and county executives, the removal of governors and other county officers, and challenges to county laws and decisions. We also handle petitions to enforce the Bill of Rights, including the right to fair administrative action, the right to property and the right to a fair hearing.

What we do

We prepare constitutional petitions and judicial review applications, seek urgent conservatory orders where a right is under immediate threat, and represent clients through to the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. For public officers facing removal, we focus on whether the process followed the Constitution and the County Governments Act — because procedure is often where these cases are decided.
